Philanthropist Justice Umaru Abdullahi Donates Three Boreholes to Umaru Musa Yar’adua University

In a significant gesture of goodwill, philanthropist and son of Katsina State, Justice Umaru Abdullahi, has generously donated three boreholes to Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU) as part of his ongoing contributions to the institution. The boreholes, strategically located at the Faculty of Science, the male hostels, and the female hostels, were commissioned to address the long-standing issue of water scarcity within the university.
The Vice-Chancellor of UMYU, Professor Shehu Salihu Muhammad, expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the entire university community. He lauded the effort, noting that the boreholes would significantly improve the water supply, which has been a challenge due to the university’s difficult terrain.
Prof. Shehu noted that, the donation comes at a critical time and with these boreholes in place, students and staff alike will have better access to clean water. This will positively impact not just sanitation and hygiene but the overall learning environment.
The Vice-Chancellor also gave assurances that the university would make judicious use of the facilities, maintaining them for the benefit of current and future generations. He emphasized that Justice Umaru Abdullahi’s gesture exemplified the spirit of giving back to society and called on other well-meaning individuals to emulate such acts of service.
The donation has been widely praised by both staff and students, many of whom have struggled with water shortages on campu due to difficult terrain. The boreholes are expected to provide a reliable and sustainable solution, enhancing the quality of life in the hostels and improving the overall functionality of the Faculty of Science.
Justice Umaru Abdullahi, a respected son of the state, has consistently been recognized for his contributions to the educational and infrastructural development of Katsina.
